1. Who we are

Fuda ("we", "us") is a food decision assistant based in the Netherlands. We help you decide what to eat, drink, and snack on.

2. What data we collect

  • Account data: email address (when you sign up).
  • Location: approximate city-level location (used to show nearby restaurants and venues). We do not store precise GPS coordinates long-term.
  • Dietary preferences: diet type, allergens, religious constraints, household size.
  • Decision history: which cards you accepted or rejected, to improve recommendations.
  • Grocery and pantry data: items you add to shopping lists and pantry tracking.
  • Device info: browser type and language preference (for localization).

3. Why we collect it

  • To provide personalized food recommendations.
  • To filter out foods you cannot or choose not to eat.
  • To show restaurants and delivery options near you.
  • To build and manage your grocery lists.
  • To improve the quality of suggestions over time.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data based on: (a) your consent, (b) our legitimate interest in providing the service, and (c) contract performance (providing the features you signed up for).

5. Data storage and retention

Data is stored on Supabase (hosted in the EU, Frankfurt region). We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Third-party services

  • Supabase: database and authentication (EU-hosted).
  • Vercel: hosting and serverless functions.
  • Thuisbezorgd / Uber Eats: restaurant and menu data (no personal data shared).
  • SerpAPI: restaurant search via Google Maps (no personal data shared).
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: reverse geocoding (no personal data shared).
  • Sentry: error tracking (anonymized error reports).

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of your personal data.
  • Rectification: correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: delete your account and all associated data (Settings > Account > Delete Account).
  • Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Complaint: file a complaint with the Dutch DPA (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. With your consent we also use Google Analytics (gtag) to understand site usage. We do not use advertising cookies. You can manage cookie preferences via the consent banner.
